Many countries around the globe play cricket. Some have been playing the game for ages and have produced exceptional players. Tim David of Singapore, for example, is a T20 franchisee. China and other Asian states are supporting the sport with more money. Major League Cricket will also be starting in 2023. Mainland Europe is also enjoying exposure through continental leagues, which include countries like Germany, Luxembourg, and Russia.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one among the top cricket countries in Asia. The country has a strong cricket team but has had mixed results against foreigners. They did show some promise during the mid-2000s. In 2005, they beat Australia at Cardiff and in 2007 beat South Africa and India in the World Cup. More recently, they beat New Zealand 4-0 in an ODI series. The rebel Indian Cricket League was formed in 2007 and 14 of their players defected. Corruption also led to the expulsion of Mohammad Ashraful, national team captain.
East Africa
East Africa was invited by the Cricket World Cup to participate in 1975. In its first representative team, players from Kenya. Each country plays under their national flag. There are separate cricket authorities in the region. The region was a member of the International Cricket Council until 1989, when it was disbanded.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka hosts every four years the Cricket World Cup. Cricket has a long history in Sri Lanka. Despite wars that ravaged Sri Lanka, cricket is enjoying a comeback over the years. Sri Lanka played host to the World Cup twice, in 1997 and 2007. The most recent edition saw Sri Lanka's Civil War come to an end just in time for a semifinal match with New Zealand.
Australia
Australia is one of the most competitive countries in the world when it comes to cricket. Australia's love for cricket goes back over 200 years. There is fierce rivalry with England. They have produced many hall of famers and won numerous tournaments.
Vanuatu
Vanuatu Cricket Association - A small Pacific nation, which has been striving to resurrect the game of cricket. The fixtures were broadcast live online and enjoyed a tremendous success with more than 600,000 viewers. The cricket matches are also a perfect opportunity to promote the sport, with companies based in Vanuatu dealing with tourism, trading with Australia, and New Zealand all hoping to have their name in lights.
